What is Sade Sati?

Sade Sati is a transit, not a placement. Nothing in your own chart changes; what changes is where Saturn is in the sky. Saturn takes about twenty-nine and a half years to travel round the zodiac and roughly two and a half years to cross one sign, so its passage across the three signs centred on your Moon occupies about seven and a half years. The 'sade' in the name means seven and a half, and 'sati' refers to Saturn.

Because it is calculated from the natal Moon, everyone sharing a Moon sign experiences Sade Sati at the same time. That detail matters: it is not a private affliction but a shared window, affecting a whole twelfth of the population at once. How Sade Sati is calculated

One caveat about the dates. Saturn's sign ingresses are exact, but near a boundary the planet can slip back into the previous sign while retrograde and cross again later. This calculator records a single primary ingress per sign, so a phase can occasionally be split into more than one interval and the edges are approximate to within a few months — the standard convention for a Sade Sati timeline.
